Natural and Commercial Products to Remove Sticker Glues from Surfaces

Removal of sticky substances from the surfaces of wooden furniture or mirror is often an ignored part of home cleaning due to its difficulty. While you may resort to using commercial products available in the market, it might be good to try out solutions using readily available stuffs at home as a part of regular domestic cleaning.

Peanut butter is the natural solution when it comes to removing sticker goo from surfaces. Apply the PB to the affected area and leave it for 2-3 hours, acting as a laundry pre-treat. After this time, remove the excess, apply dishwashing liquid to degrease the area and wash normally.

There are a few other products available on the market should you prefer to choose a ready to use solution for the purpose. These products help remove sticky substances from fabric after it’s been washed and dried.

Glass or Mirror:

To sticker glue from the surface of glass or mirror, rubbing alcohol could be an ideal remedy. Use a razor blade to remove the bulk of the excess. Apply a small amount of rubbing alcohol to a cotton ball or Q-tip and apply it on the area of the sticker. After the alcohol has soaked on the sticker for a few minutes, wipe it away with a clean rag or cloth. The sticker along with the residue will usually be removed.

Another product called Goo Gone, which is available at most retailers as well as Amazon, is designed to specifically to remove sticker and any other type of goo. Just follow the directions on the bottle, apply and remove. this product works like on a charm. But, please read the directions and only use as directed.

Wood or Furniture:

Glue type residue on wood surfaces could be removed with oil-based products such as baby oil, vegetable oil, furniture polish or mineral oil. Saturate the sticker by applying the oil to a clean cloth. Leave it on for some time so the oil will be able to penetrate the glue, and then wipe it off with a clean cloth.
